Verna Avonell (Farley) Perry, age 89, of Oak Hill, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, after an extended illness. She was born October 6, 1935, to the late Westley Lloyd Farley and Evelyn (Denney) Farley.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Eugene D. Perry; son, James E. Perry; one infant grandson; one grandson, Christopher Perry; one step grandson, Stephen Dyer; sisters: Emogene, and her husband, Carroll Cahoon, Fredlene Wagoner, Irene, and her husband, Herman Perry; brother, Jimmy Farley. She is also preceded in death by many other relatives and many friends.
She is survived by her son, Lloyd (June) Perry, Carl (Donna) Perry, Charles “Chuck” (Joy) Perry, Elliott (Teresa) Perry, and Ray (Anna) Perry; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Louise Morse Farley, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and numerous friends.
Verna loved the Lord and loved serving Him and her church for many years. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed canning, singing at church, hosting family reunions and hosting her Sunday family dinners. She worked hard her whole life, she was the glue of the family, she was loved by many. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 11-1 PM at the Pentecostal Holiness House of Prayer in Wellston, 23965 OH-93, Wellston, Ohio 45692. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at the church with Pastor Randy Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Pattonsville Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
