Shirley A. (McKenzie) Simpson, age 78, departed this life on Thursday, July 7th, 2022, after a long illness. She was born March 11th, 1944 in Eifort, Ohio to the late Lawrence ”Bob” and Evelyn (Belcher) McKenzie.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Simpson whom she married in 1976 in Russell, Kentucky. She is also survived by her daughter, Judy Comer of Kansas; granddaughter, Brandy Sharp (Justin Carter); three great-grandchildren, Alex, Ethan, and Luke; two brothers, Larry “Doc” (Marsha) McKenzie and Danny (Linda) McKenzie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb (Linda) Simpson, Tim (Lori) Simpson, Pam Johnson, and Patty Hightower; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Eugene (Dolly) McKenzie, Louise (Willard) Burchett, Betty (Fred) Canter, James “Luther” (Jenny) McKenzie, Ruby (Glen) Miller, and Carol (Larry) Adkins; two infant siblings, Lulabell and Bobby; and brother-in-law, Jeff Simpson.

Graveside services under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill will be held on Saturday, July 9th, 2022, at 3PM at New Zion Cemetery with Rev. Tim Simpson officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
