Roy Comer, age 80, of Jackson, Ohio, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on the evening of December 22, 2024.

Roy was born October 4, 1944, in Jackson, Ohio, to Lloyd and Louella Comer. He graduated from Jackson High school in 1962 and attended classes at Urbana University. He retired from General Motors in 2005.

Roy is survived by his wife, Della; sons, Lincoln (Alexis) Comer and Christopher Comer; stepchildren: David (Ruth) Cline, Shirley Vona, Chris Cline, and Teresa Maynard. Roy was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and 1 niece.

Roy was preceded in death by his mother, Louella; his father, Lloyd; and his brothers, Edward and Ray Comer.

In addition, there were loyal friends who stood by Roy countless times during his journey including Paul Brown, Bill Euton, and Dianne Durham who never failed to show up and do whatever was needed day or night. Our family is eternally grateful for their kindness and stoic perseverance through Roy's treatments.

Roy was a member of Bethesda Chapel of Jackson for many years. He deeply loved God, his wife, his family and friends. Roy enjoyed money, westerns, history, classic automobiles, classic country music, socializing, road trips, farming, coffee, and black cherry cigars. He was ornery, he loved to make people laugh and play pranks. Roy never met a stranger and jumped at the opportunity to help. He took pride in volunteering at the polls during election time and always attended class reunions.  Roy was a wonderful provider, a fierce protector, and a positive influence who touched many lives and will be dearly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 28th, 2024, from 6PM-8PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at 2PM at Bethesda Chapel Freewill Baptist with Rev. Dan King officiating. Burial will follow at German-Salem Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
