Rose Cherrington Walters was born November 16, 1948, to Paul Cherrington and Dolly Crace Cherrington. She passed from this earth April 27, 2023. The second of five children, and the strong-willed eldest daughter, Rose always cut her own path. After graduating from Oak Hill High School, life led Rose to Columbus, Ohio. Rose married David Blanton, then of Oak Hill, Ohio, with whom she shares a son, Jonathan. Rose, David, and Jonathan returned to southern Ohio and made their home in Pike County.

Rose began a new chapter in life and love on September 17, 1982, when she married Donald Walters with whom she raised sons, Timothy and Stefan, a few well-loved dogs, and an outdoor cat named Foster. Together, Don and Rose shared a love for spending time with their grandchildren, family dinners, trips to the beach, high school sports, and local politics.

Rose’s commitment to public service and to her community led her to serve as Director of the Jackson County Board of Elections and as Jackson County Recorder, a position she held for fourteen years. Rose is survived by her loving husband, Donald Walters; sons, Jonathan (Susanna) Blanton, Timothy (Brittany) Walters, and Stefan (Courtney) Walters; grandchildren, Nina and Vincent Blanton, Braxton and Brennan Walters, and Brentlie and Easton Walters; siblings, Ervin (Nancy) Cherrington, Rhonda (Eugene) Gatrell, Luanne (Bob) Cambell, and sister-in-law, Beverly Cherrington; and numerous friends, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dolly Cherrington, brother, Jon Cherrington, and infant son, Joel Andrew Walters. Rose will be remembered for her love of family, her devotion to her community, and for making an absolutely spectacular cheesecake.
