Patricia Ann "Pat" Gregory departed this earthly life on December 20, 2024. Her truly altruistic life was eventually overcome in recent years by dementia.  She was 91 years old, born on October 1, 1933, in Marietta, Ohio to Dick and Florence (Nealis) Schenk.  She was a loving mother to Sarah (Gregory) Flaherty, Susan Gregory-Conley, and Will Gregory.  Pat is also survived by her grandchildren, Clay Flaherty, Keely Flaherty, and Ryan, Tyler, and Serena Gregory.

Pat had most recently lived in Jackson, Ohio, but spent many years raising her children in Hillsboro, Ohio.  She started her family with Bill Gregory in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.  She was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years and was known for her kindness and overwhelming devotion to her students and fellow teachers.  She even painted huge, wonderful hallway drawings of animals for her students at Lynchburg Elementary School.

Pat earned a degree in Home Economics from Marietta College.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking a nightly meal for her children, who also have fond memories of homemade bread and cinnamon rolls on most Sundays while growing up.  Whenever Pat was near, you could count on three things: Great food, self-sacrificing hospitality, and an inspired laugh.

A memorial service for Pat will take place on December 28, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson.  Visitation will be held immediately prior from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association to honor Pat's memory. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.

Pat was a wonderful person and friend. I have fond memories of working with her on various church projects. I have visited her and she did not know me and that broke my heart,. So sorry I can not be there to pay tribute to this gracious lady . ,My condolences to all the family.

Pat (Mrs. Gregory) was my 2nd grade teacher at Lynchburg-Clay Elementary School. I am now 54 years old and she was one of the many great teachers who molded, encouraged, and was instrumental / played a big part in helping little kids turn into responsible adults. She was loving and kind but also held kids accountable for their actions and behaviors. She was the total package as a teacher. May God bless your family as you grieve.
