Nettie Faye Vorhes, aged 81, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away on December 31, 2024. Born on August 18, 1943, Faye was known for her grace, intelligence, and resilience. Faye was always impeccably dressed and lit up any room with her million-watt smile and sharp wit, endearing herself to everyone she met.
Faye was a graduate of Southwestern High School in Patriot, Ohio. Her passion for reading, her skills in typing, spelling and shorthand were well recognized among her peers and family. She dedicated many years to Holzer Hospital Foundation as a medical transcriptionist, where she was renowned for her ability to type 143 words per minute, her exceptional proficiency in medical terminology and her speed reading which carried over into her personal life with her love of books. Faye loved to bake and was the best pie maker around. She loved to drive, and she loved to shop.
Faye attended Rodney Pike, Church of God with her family, where she enjoyed the preaching of Ron Bynum. Her relationship with Jesus Christ and her love of the Bible was central to her life. She loved teaching her grandchildren Bible verses.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vorhes, second husband, Russell Roach, former husband, Robert Miller, her parents, Albert Taylor, and Virginia Vititoe, her siblings, twin sister, Mary Fern Taylor, Linda Arrowood, Daniel Taylor, Juanita Massing, Pauline Franz, and her daughter, Stephanie Miller. Faye is survived by her brother, Johnny Taylor, daughter Barbara (Robbie) Farley, son Matthew (Tammy) Miller; grandchildren, Sophia, Jude and Willow Farley; Alex, Noah, Miya and Hannah Miller.
Private services were held Friday, January 6, 2025, at Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home and burial followed at Gallia Baptist Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the excellent staff at Buckeye Forest Skilled Nursing Facility, where she experienced loving, superb and attentive care. The family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice of Jackson for their services.
