Mary Elizabeth (Gillespie) Huston passed away peacefully at Holzer Medical Center on September 2, 2023, after a short illness. She was born July 18, 1943, in Tazewell, Virginia, to the late Buford and Tina (Alley) Gillespie.
She was a vibrant person who enjoyed gardening and flowers, laughter, and the blessings of life, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughters, Jeannie Burns of Hilliard and Tammy (Randy) Hughes of Oak Hill; son, Kevin (Julie) Huston of Jackson; grandchildren, Nicholas Burns, Max Burns, and Tyler Brown; special extended family members, Scott Burns, Rob Ellis, and Jenny Hughes; sister, Louise (Oliver) Pickett; special sisters-in-law, Jerri Huston and Sue Carstensen; nephew, whom she adopted, John Gillespie; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Huston; ten brothers; one infant sister; and son-in-law, Michael Burns.
Visitation will be from 12-2PM on Thursday, September 7, 2023, with a funeral service to follow at 2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Pastor Jon Hensler officiating. Burial will follow in Sardis Irish McCulgan Cemetery, Oak Hill, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to The American Heart Association, www.heart.org/donate.
