Martha Drucilla Haynes Bays passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her home. She was born February 4, 1943, to the late Virgil Haynes and Wanda Byas Haynes Grover.
Drucilla was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. She married Dennis Bays on June 18,1961. To this union were born four sons: Brian, of Wellston OH, Michael, of Winterhaven, FL, Dennis, of Orville, OH and Chris, of Vinton, OH. Drucilla leaves behind nine grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Andrea, Christopher, Jordan, Leigha, Izabella, Cheryl and Kinsley Bays; one great-grandchild, Matthew Bays; four sisters: Gwendolyn Vaught, of New Albany, IN, Rowena Jett, of Foster, KY, Helen Haynes, of Oak Hill, OH, and Joyce Preston, of Lakeland, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Edward, and an infant daughter, Cheryl Denise.
Visitation hours will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 4-8 PM at Lewis & Gillum funeral home in Oak Hill. Funeral services will follow on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Heath Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Gallia Baptist Cemetery.
