Lawrence Edward Long was born July 6th,1934, and passed away on December 3rd, 2023. He was born in Blackfork, Ohio to the late Lester Hoy and Viloria (Harris) Long. Eddie as he was known, accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Blackfork, Ohio.
Eddie began his career at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was then employed at Grand Hospital and retired from there as the head of the respiratory therapy department. He then went on to work at the Doctors Hospital and retired from there. During these years he was also proprieter of Longs Sohio Service Station and Longlife Healthcare. He also was the owner of a number of horses.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 66 years, Loretta “Mickey” Long; sons, Todd (Robin) Long of Columbus, Ohio and Theron (Sheryl) Long of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren: Nichole Stowers of the home, Adam (Hannah) Long of Grove City, Ohio, and Joshua Long of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Kelton Stowers of Gainesville, Georgia and Ayden, Ava, and Madelyn of Grove City, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Linda Howell of Jackson, Ohio and Mattie Howell of Westerville, Ohio; brother-in-law, Gregory (Kara) Howell of San Diego, California; a host of nieces and nephews, including special niece, Monica (Jeff) Dillow; as well as many neighbors and their families who were invaluable especially Steve and Brandy Nicoleson and Mary Muncine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel, Robert, Steven, Douglas, and Claude; and sisters, Eva, Mary, Donna, and Lois.
During Eddie’s long illness one of the bright lights in his life was his granddaughter, Nichole. She was always able to get her Grampy to smile through his worst times. The family asks that you remember them in your prayers during this extremely difficult time.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 11th, 2023, from 10AM-11AM at the Union Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11AM at the church with burial to follow at Union Baptist Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
