Lawana Dawn Carter, age 60, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8th, 2022, at Holzer. She was born March 7th, 1961, in Gallipolis, Ohio to Frieda (Hommes) Adkins and the late Vernal Holberg.
Lawana worked 22 years at Milton Head Start. She enjoyed spending her free time watching dirt track and go-kart racing.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip Cox of Oak Hill, Ohio; daughter, Christy Carter (Chip Dickens) of Oak Hill, Ohio; two grandchildren: Robbie and Cameron Carter of Oak Hill, Ohio; mother, Frieda Holberg Adkins of Jackson, Ohio; two sisters: Susan (Charlie) Claytor of Beaver, Ohio and Rhonda (Andy) Bowling of Jackson, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews; and her fur-baby, Lucy.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elizabeth Hommes.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 11th, 2022, from 12-2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will follow at 2PM with Rev. Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
