With profound sadness we announce the passing of L. Naomi Elkins, our loving and devoted mother, on November 3, 2022.


She left us sleeping peacefully while being cared for by her son and daughter-in-law, Herschel R. Jr., and Amanda L. Elkins at their home in Hilliard Ohio. She was in her 82nd year.

Born November 8, 1939, to the late John Vernon Monk and Letha Barker. She is survived by and was the beloved mother of daughters, Teri (Roger) Lane of Newark, Ohio, Krista (Michael) Parks of Wooster, Ohio, Eva (Mark) Irwin of Newark, Ohio, Mysti Garrett of Cordova, Tennessee; sons, Jack (Denise) Elkins of Lancaster, Ohio, Herschel R. (Amanda) Elkins Jr., of Hilliard, Ohio, proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and great-grandmother to twenty great-grandchildren; sister Edith (Jack) Cash and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her devoted husband Herschel R. Elkins (Jack), son Robert A. Elkins (Bobby), son Shannon V. Elkins, sisters Lizzie, Mary, Gertrude, Gladys, Ruth, and brother David.


Naomi lived a full life as a wonderful mother, wife, and homemaker. She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, and enjoyed crocheting. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children a strong desire to live a life pleasing to God, instilling values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Naomi’s life will be held at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, 28 Harding Avenue, Jackson, OH 45640 on Tuesday, November 8th, 2022, from 12:00PM-2PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
