Karen Sue Markham, age 69, passed away Sunday, February 5th, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 18th, 1953, in Oak Hill, Ohio to Goldie (Blackburn) Carter and the late Delbert Carter.
She was a 1971 graduate of Oak Hill High School. Karen was employed by Job & Family Services for many years, but recently owned and helped operate Liberty General Store with her husband.
Surviving are her husband, Arley “Dale” Markham of Jackson, Ohio; her mother, Goldie Carter of Jackson, Ohio; her children: Michael (Angie) Roach of Oak Hill, Ohio, Dava (Scott) Smith of Jackson, Ohio, Vance Markham of North Carolina, Lisa Williams of Indiana, and Laura Fosson of Waverly, Ohio; brother, Terry Carter of Jackson, Ohio; sister-in-law, Michelle Carter of Wheelersburg, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler (Montana) Roach and Mason and Bentley Davis; great-grandchildren: Oakleigh and Cooper Roach; nieces, Ronelle (Shane) Jenkins of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Tara (Doug) Martin of Jackson, Ohio, and Devon (Josh) Chavez of Jackson, Ohio; and nephew, Chris (Stephanie) Carter of Wheelersburg, Ohio.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Letha and Hayward Markham; brother, Steve Carter; and sister-in-law, Denise Carter.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, from 12-2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2PM with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Karen will be laid to rest at C.M. Cemetery following the service.
