Gregory W. Spees passed away comfortably on April 23, 2025, after a brave battle with grade four brain cancer at the age of sixty-three.

Greg was born October 2, 1961, to Beverly and Larry Spees in Bluffton, Ohio. He was a graduate of both Capital University and the University of Rio Grande. For most of his life, he dedicated his time, effort, and heart to countless students in special education.

Greg is survived by his loving, devoted wife Karen, his obstinate, headstrong daughters, Kaitlyn and Jenna, his fellow sports and all things nerdy-loving son-in-law, Joe, and his joyful, sunshine of a granddaughter, Stevie Rose.

Greg will live forever in our hearts, alongside the memories of his goofy dad jokes, his prized Lego creations, the pride he took in being a shareholder of his beloved Green Bay Packers, his loud, in-your-face Hawaiian shirts, his unusual love of near-stale cookies with coffee—specifically dark roast with three creams and two Splendas, his obsession with the burnt tasting, Extra Toasty Cheez-Its, how he rattled the house from pulling into the garage with his favorite music blaring way too loud, and countless others that we will always cherish.

Greg would not want us to tread in the pain of this loss, as he is now in an infinite paradise where suffering, sickness, and heartbreak do not exist. He would want us to relinquish the hurt of the memories of these last few months. In the words of his favorite band AC/DC, he would want to tell us all, “Forget about the past. It’ll always be with us. It’s never gonna die,” just as he never truly will, as our souls are eternal.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 25th, 2025, from 1PM-3PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with a service immediately following at 3PM with Rev. Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
