Gary Lee “Chipper” Coleman, age 75, of Oak Hill, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 4, 1950, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Charles and Esther (Saunders) Coleman.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Metzler) Coleman; children, Tiffany Jonas (Brian Lambert), of Oak Hill, and Garrett Coleman (Sara Reckart), of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Gavin (Kailey Adkins) Jonas, Grant Lambert, Morgan Lambert, Olivia Lambert and Chris Reckart; siblings, Eddie (Becky) Coleman, John (Brenda) Coleman, and Essie Parker. He is also survived by too many friends to list.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Coleman, and his grandparents.
Gary grew up in Blackfork, he graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1969. He was a member of the Portland Masonic Lodge #366. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and riding his side by side. He loved spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids the most. He was a truck driver for Knock and son for 7 years, 21 years with Grant Trucking, 17 years with PI&I Trucking, and 6 years with the Village of Oak Hill.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 6-9 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with Masonic services at 7:00. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor David Staiger officiating. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Gary would like donations made to St. Jude’s, since he was a donor himself, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
