David Thomas “Tom” Potts, age 74, of Beaver, Ohio passed away after a lengthy illness. Tom was born in Oak Hill, Ohio, on January 1st, 1951, to the late Edwin and Ruby (Snyder) Potts.
Tom is a 1969 graduate of Oak Hill High School. He worked at Goodyear from 1969-2007, retiring after 38 years when an illness caused him to become paralyzed. Tom was determined and worked hard to teach himself to walk again. Because of this, he was able to enjoy 18 more years of his life fishing, riding his side-by-side, jeep riding, and going to the races, he especially loved Bristol. Tom had a strong love for animals, especially his dog, Bandit.
Tom is survived by is wife of 41 years, Janet (Haydon) Potts; daughter, Mandi (Jamie) Pierce; grandson, Kaden Thomas Pierce; sister, Valerie “June” Kisor; mother-in-law, Marlene Haydon; sisters-in-law, Diana Potts, Nancy Skaggs, and Mary Deeter (Deb Dolick); brother-in-law, David Haydon; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Dawn Haydon; siblings: Keith Potts and Nancy Kiser; brother-in-law, Gerald Kiser and Ronnie Kisor; father-in-law, William A Haydon; nephew, Aaron M. Queen; and niece, Debra Ann Potts.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, from 6-8PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 16th, 2025. Friends may call from 1PM-2PM at the funeral home prior to the funeral starting at 2PM with Rev. Stan Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery.
