Dan E. Franklin, age 73, of Jackson, passed away on Monday evening, September 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on September 21, 1950, in Jackson to the late Ed and Mildred (Kiser) Franklin.
He is survived his wife of 54 years, Jackie (Kelly) Franklin, of Jackson; daughter, Mendy Saunders and special son-in-law, Mitch Saunders, of Jackson; grandchildren, Tristan, Braxton, Kellan, Gary, and Aeiron; sisters, Sondra Sheward, of Marysville, Ohio, Starla Jones, of Marysville, Ohio, and Teresa Miller, of Patriot, Ohio. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, numerous amounts of cousins and friends, as well as Papaw’s girl, Paisley, and his fur baby, “Roxy”.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved son, Tad Franklin.
Dan graduated from Jackson High School in 1968. He retired with Millwright Local Union 1241. He was an avid car collector and loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He loved to spend time “piddling” in his garage. He looked forward to spending his winters in Florida with his cousin, Dickie. Above all else he was a father figure to so many without even knowing it. He will be dearly missed by many.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 3:00 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until the time of the memorial. At Dan’s request his body will be cremated. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com
