Clarence Edward Fairchild, age 90, of Chillicothe, Ohio went to be with the Angels on Monday, June 10th, 2024, at his home with his loved ones. He was born June 21st, 1933, in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Benjamin and Emma (Lemaster) Fairchild.
Clarence enjoyed playing basketball for the Waterloo Wonders at Waterloo High School from which he graduated in 1951. He was a huge University of Kentucky college basketball fan and March Madness was his favorite thing to watch. Clarence was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army and he was a long-time, active member of the Jackson Baptist Temple.
He was employed as a welder with D.T. I. Railroad for over 30 years. In his retirement years he enjoyed taking daily long walks. He was a loving, generous, and supportive father, grandfather, and mentor to many, and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Clarence and Janice had five children whom survive, including daughter, Teresa Ann (John Daniel) Fairchild Hannah; daughter, Rhonda Gail Fairchild; son, Mark Edward Fairchild; daughter, Lorrie Lee (Fairchild) Wright; youngest daughter, Geneva Beth (Fairchild) Craig; grandchildren: Scarlett Hannah, Shawn Fairchild, Sarah Gail Fairchild, Katlyn Fairchild, Caleb (Jodie) Fairchild, Luke Fairchild, and Jerrick and Josh Wright; great-grandchildren: Abrianna Gail Fairchild, Aiden Reese, Elizabeth Cooper, Lilly Drake, and Reece Fairchild; step-grandchildren: Dakota and Cameron Craig; step-great-grandchildren: Bentley Adkins, and Ava and Aria; brother, Cleve Fairchild; sister-in-law, Betty Fairchild; nephews, Kyle Fairchild, Daniel Sharp, and Michael Albert; nieces, Lynn Snively and Peggy Sue Howell; as well as numerous other great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives, and his church family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years whom he married on September 29th, 1956, Janice Sue (Conger) Fairchild and his sister, Clara (Fairchild) Snively.
The family would like to thank National Church Residences Hospice team for all of their support with a special thanks extended to Leah Bolt.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, from 6-8PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14th, 2024, at 1PM at the Jackson Baptist Temple with Pastor Allen Gibson and Chaplin Aaron officiating. Uncle Clarence you will be missed you was a big part of my life as a young man remember him taking me hunting with his son Mark among other things. I'm sorry I cannot make the funeral but will be in my prayers. Love from Dan Sharp and family.
