Christopher Shawn Miller, age 49, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 15th, 2022, at Holzer of Jackson. He was born March 2nd, 1973, in Ironton, Ohio to the late Donald and Shirley (Rawlins) Miller.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Deidra (McCain) Miller; daughter, Eva Miller; siblings: Kathy Ross, Dianna (Daniel) Taylor, Janet Mercer, and Donald (Christina) Miller; mother and father-in-law, Eloise and Anthony Salyers; brother and sister-law, Chad (Andrea) McCain; his beloved pets, Mani and Jhett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Hayden Miller; and two brother-in-laws, Michael Mercer and Ronald Ross.
Chris was a 1991 graduate of Southwestern High School and attended Ohio University where he obtained his associates degree in 2018. He was also a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the 1st Infantry Division with The Big Red One out of Fort Riley, Kansas from 1996-1998 and was later a member of the Ohio Army National Guard 1485 Transportation Company from 2003-2004. While enlisted he served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His time in the military earned him various honors including the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, both the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device.
He enjoyed vacationing at Myrtle Beach and Walt Disney World with his family and friends.
Christopher held various jobs down through the years, with the one he enjoyed most being the years from 2001-2006 employed with the Longaberger Company. He started with the company as a weaver and gradually worked his way up as a member of the travel team. With the years he spent in the military and his years at Longaberger he was proud of the fact that he had been to almost all 50 states.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 20th, 2022, from 3-7PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21st, 2022, at 1PM with Pastor Cline Rawlins officiating. Burial will follow at Gallia Baptist Cemetery.
