Cheryl Dawnette “Nettie” Leedy, age 61, passed away into God’s glory on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, surrounded by family and caretaker singing to her as she crossed the river to Heaven.
Dawnette was a graduate of Hope Haven and a dedicated employee with J-Vac Industries for 38 years until her health declined. She was a lifelong member of Christ’s Church, growing up in the Jackson Christian Church and later the Jackson Church of Christ. She always enjoyed being a part of her church and around her church family.
Nettie loved traveling and spending time with family. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty. She loved watching westerns, cartoons, and ballgames. She was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Reds. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games, and bowling.
She is survived by her father, Donald Leedy, who lovingly cared for her all her life; sisters, Melinda Leedy, Sheila Leedy, and Carol (David) Williams; brothers, Micah (Susan) Leedy and Benjamin Reese; nieces and nephews: Gabriel, Rachel Gayle, Isaac, Josiah, Elisha Jane, Samuel, Israel, Levi, Sarah Laverne Williams, Leanna Baker and Matt Bolen. Nettie loved the little ones and was blessed with grand nieces and nephews: Genevieve, Halayna, Elvira, Lainey, Festus, Kai, Koa, Rydge, and one on the way.
Dawnette was preceded in death by her mother, Letha (Hughes) Leedy and nephew, Nathan Leedy.
The family would like to thank the hospice staff and a very special caretaker, Tonya Boyer, who stayed at Nettie’s bedside through her last days.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: I go to prepare a place for you.”
