Catherine “Cathy” Rose (Ray) Bird, age 73, of Wellston, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Riverside. She was born June 30, 1950, in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Fred and Margaret (Nicely) Ray.
Cathy is survived by sons, Fred (Jan) Bird, of Liberty Texas, and Doug (Deb) Bird, of Jackson; daughter, Serena Miller, of Cleveland, Texas; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and her beloved dog, “Ginger”. She is also survived by her Life-long best friends, Nancy (Bill) Peek and Robin (Kenny) Eby, many friends, loved ones and her church family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Helen Nicely, and Susie and Frank Ray.
Cathy was a Navy child, traveling all over the United States. She graduated from high school in Kodiak, Alaska. She was a registered nurse, working at Mt. Carmel and also the Franklin County jail. She loved Ohio State football, road trips, the beach, scrap booking and her dog “Ginger”.
Visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2024, from 2-4 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 with Father Thomas William Herge officiating. Cathy will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
