Carolyn Lewis (Ervin), age 96, of Oak Hill passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at Four Winds Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 16, 1926, in Bloomfield Township, Jackson to the late Myrtle Marie (Evans) and Charlie Erwin.
Carolyn is survived by her children, David Lewis (Nancy), Tim Lewis, and Carol Ann Lemon (Steve); her grandchildren, Aaron Lewis, Andy Lewis (Bridgette), Angelea Roberts (Shane), Clayton Lewis, Rae Anne Fannin (Aaron), Richard Lewis (Holly), Nicole Cadigan (Dan), and Christopher Lemon (Ronda); and great grandchildren Tyler Timms, Nate Timms, Devon Lewis, Peyton Lewis, Elizabeth Fannin, Abby Lewis, Mackenzie Lewis, Bradon Lewis, Alex Roberts, Ava Roberts, Madelyn Fannin, Brooke Cadigan, Ashton Fannin, Audrey Roberts, and Wesley Cadigan.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband William V. Lewis; son, Vaughn Lewis; and daughter-in-law, Penny Lewis.
On Sept. 21, 1945, Carolyn married the love of her life, the late William V. Lewis. Carolyn had a passion for any sport and a playful, competitive spirit. Carolyn loved playing bingo with her friends and took any chance she got to go to play. She was the first female to show a cattle project at the Jackson County Fair and she encouraged her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to be active in the 4-H program. More than anything, Carolyn loved her family. Anything she did, she did with love, whether it was baking her famous chicken noodles or working in her garden.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 with Kevin Green officiating. Burial will follow in Horeb Cemetery. Carolyn’s final wishes were that donations to Horeb Cemetery Association in Oak Hill are to be made in lieu of flowers following her death.
