Barbara Jeanne (Rodenfels) Scott, age 87, passed away at Holzer Assisted Living. She was born June 7th, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Lester James and Mary Kathryn (Ell) Rodenfels.

 

Barbara married Robert Woodward Scott on December 6th, 19459, in Jackson, Ohio and they were blessed with 35 years together until his passing on March 16th, 1995. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnn.

 

She lived most of her life in Columbus, Ohio. Barbara was a 1955 graduate of North High School after which she worked for nearly 20 years at Jeffrey Manufacturing Company in Columbus. In July of 1999, she retired from the USDA Farm Service Agency after 16 years of service.

 

Barbara volunteered at the Lillian Jones Museum here in Jackson for 5 years, helping at the carriage house doing genealogy work. She started doing genealogy after her retirement. She was a member of Union County Ohio Genealogical Society, The Ohio Genealogical Society, New England Historical & Genealogical Society, and New Jersey Genealogical Society. She was also a past member of Fairfield County Ohio Genealogical Society, Franklin County Ohio Genealogical Society, and Clark County Genealogical Society.

 

She was a member of several lineage societies including, Union County Ohio Pioneers, Civil War Families of Union County, Pioneer Families of Franklin County, Fairfield County Ohio Pioneers, First Settlers and First Families of Clark County, First Families of Ohio Society, Society of Civil War Families of Ohio, and Settlers and Builders of Ohio. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Nabby Lee Ames Chapter in Athens, Ohio.

 

Barbara is survived by her cousin, Harry Weylman of Hanna City, Illinois.
