Rita (Tope) Hemby, age 78, of Oak Hill Ohio, passed away at her home surrounded by her family Thursday, October 1, 2020. She was born February 24, 1942 in Ironton, Ohio to the late Willis and Hazel (Butcher) Tope.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Tammy Sheets, Angie (Jay) Comer, Bobbie (Tommy) Ison, Shelbi (Terry) Leonard; four grandchildren, Jayla Comer, Megan Comer, Kasey Ison, Dylan Comer; her sister, Alberta Riggs; her sisters-in-law, Norma Boggs and Brenda and Turley George; brother-in-law, Larry and Teri Hemby; and her two dogs. She cherished and adored her family so much.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Hemby.

Rita was a mother and a grammy to her family and she will be in our hearts forever. She always enjoyed her family and her two dogs, Belle and Tinkerbell. She loved her grandchildren and them calling her grammy. She was always so proud of her children. She loved to garden and take walks. She is now at peace with her husband and her mom and dad.

Friends may call Monday, October 5, 2020 from 11:00 – 12:30 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 PM at Centerpoint Cemetery in Oak Hill.
