at Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, Jackson, Ohio

at New Zion Cemetery

At the rising of the sun and at its going down, at the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter, we will remember Mary. At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring, at the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, we will remember Mary. At the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn, for as long as we live, we will remember Mary.

Mary Ellen (Jackson) Swann was born Tuesday, August 16, 1932 in Raccoon Township in Gallia County, Ohio to the late Ray and Hermia Jackson.

She is survived by siblings: John (Marle) of Columbus, Ohio, Ray Dennis (Vernelle) of Piketon, Ohio, James (Margaret) of Carey, Ohio, and Steve (Yvonne) of Sycamore, Ohio. Two loving sisters, Shirley and Helen, preceded her in death and they undoubtedly welcomed her with joy as she stepped into the realms of glory on Monday, March 9, 2020. Mary was united in holy matrimony to Robert Gene Swann on August 30, 1952. Their union brought forth four children including daughters: Pamela Swann Miller (deceased), Debra Miller (Jr), Barbara Rolsten (Tom), and son, Robert Swann (Cindy) all of whom reside in Findlay, Ohio where Mary also lived. Mary was blessed with seven grandchildren: Christopher Bloomfield (Katie) of Granville, Ohio, Eric Miller, Bradley Bloomfield (Gina), Tiffany Risner (George), and LeAnna McGuire (Matt) all of Findlay, Ohio, Alisha Lund (Allen Jr.) of Upper Sandusky Ohio, and Ashley Swann of Tiffin, Ohio. She also has sixteen great-grandchildren.

Mary was a member of the Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of Jackson, Ohio. She was a homemaker, loving mother, and devoted grandmother who had a wicked sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. For those of us who love Mary, her presence is still with us. She will walk beside us every day; unseen and unheard, but always near. Mary will be loved and missed every day until some future day when the time has come for one of us to join her. At which point, she will stretch out her hand and we will embrace her once again. Imagine her laughing as she says, “Well, look who’s here. Amen to that.” May God bless us all as we mourn the passing of Mary Ellen Jackson Swann.
