Samuel A. Johnson, age 51, of Jackson, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 5th, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus with his family by his side. He was born October 7th, 1965 in London, OH to the late Ernest and Julia (Davis) Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Suzie (Phillips) Johnson of Jackson, Ohio; children: Yolanda (Colin) Ross and Preston Johnson all of Jackson, Ohio; grandchildren, Caleb and Jadyn Ross of Jackson, Ohio; brothers: Ernie Lee (Ruth) Johnson of South Vienna, Ohio, Gary (Carol) Johnson of London, Ohio, and Randall Johnson of London, Ohio; mother and father-in-law, Joey and Phyllis Phillips of Washington Courthouse; sisters-in-law, Kay Johnson, Jodi Phillips, and Sally Phillips; brother-in-law, Mike Phillips; his devoted canine companion, Buckeye; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Everett Johnson, Tommy (Eunice) Johnson, and Joe (Lori) Johnson; sister, Eleanor (Ray) Cotton; and brother-in-law, John Phillips.
Sam was a faithful member of the Jackson Apostolic Church and spent many years working with the youth in various locations in the Jackson and Chillicothe areas. He was a mechanic for over 30 years and was always willing to help anyone in need. He also enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland
Browns, while grilling and tailgating with friends and family.
Sam's most cherished activity was spending time with his grandchildren and serving as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Friends may call on Monday July 10th, 2017 at the Jackson Apostolic Church, 156 Star St., Jackson, OH 45640 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 11th, 2017 at 1pm at the church with Pastor(s) Richard Clark, Jim Henderson, and Ernest Heskett officiating.
